intel and yahoo want to conquer tv market

London - Yahoo and Intel are both made big thanks to the success of the internet era. They both have now focussed on the internet TV market, which could be the next big internet business. At the Consumer Electronics Show they came up with some ideas which could be the start of a long term friendship between the two companies.

Intel and Yahoo have already had serious talks with various manufacturers and content providers, including Samsung and Toshiba. These manufacturers will show their new Internet-based TV's at the CES the beginning of next week. The Internet-based TV's are equipped with Yahoo's Widget Channel software for TVs and videos, and yahoo hopes that this software with the advent of the new Internet-based TVs will grow to standard.

The Widget Channel software makes it possible for the TV to browse through photos, social networking sites and watch YouTube videos. This will open a huge new market for Yahoo, which will have another big channel to show their ads on. Intel hopes the cooperation with Yahoo will stand, because the demand for microprocessors at the TV industry will highly increase, till now the demand for microprocessors for TV's was much lower than for the PC industry. Yahoo is convinced that the new Internet-based TV programs will be the next big business. 'We see it as a niche product with only a few expensive models. We see this as a shift to the general public, 'said Patrick Barry, of Yahoo's Connected TV initiative against CNet. 'From 2010 I believe that Internet-based TVs dominate the offer,' said Barry.
