Nokia introduces the N97

Nokia, the biggest maker of mobile phones in the world, has introduced the N97, a new model with a large touch screen, hoping to boost its bid for smart phones. But according to analysts, the device will not be enough for Nokia to regain market share it has lost.

Nokia continues to lead the worldwide market for smart phones, computers with functions similar to those of a computer, such as e-mail but has lost significant market share compared to Apple"s iPhone and RIM"s Blackberry. That has worried investors and analysts as pressure on profit margins of the Finnish group.

All sellers want a greater share at the segment for smart phones, which will continue to grow next year despite the negative outlook of the overall cellular market. No doubt, Nokia needed a touch-screen phone in the range for the highest priced.
The new Nokia N97 will be sold in Europe at 550 euros in the first quarter of next year..
